For the Love of Learning: A Day With Friends

Today we spent a nice day with friends. We wrote some Haiku, made some carp kites (to prepare for our display on Japan at the Expo) and had a tea party to celebrate a birthday.

Reasons why we homeschool

Learning can be done at any time - day or night
More family time
No daycare issues
Maintain a love of learning
Better use of time
More opportunities for hands on learning
More time with our children
Child led learning
Class sizes are too large
Child is not affected by learning rate of others
Opportunities to teach one-on-one
Will teach history chronologically
Incorporate second language learning on our terms

Exposure to the Arts at an early age
More unit studies
Opportunities to travel during the school year
Shorten the length of time we need to spend on topics
More time for extra-curricular
Exposure to family business
More outdoor time
Develop relationships with all ages
Nutritious lunches that are being eaten EVERY DAY
Many opportunities for play
Encourage self-reliance and the ability to find resources and information
Less influence from peers
More opportunities to learn from real life situations
